With the release of Profit Trailer 2.4, and the ability to switch between settings, as well as the increasing complexity of dynamic strategies, quite a few people have asked whether tools such as PT Magic and PTFeeder are even necessary. While the the ability to switch settings in Profit Trailer is a welcome addition, and dynamic formulas make it easier to develop ever more complex buy and sell strategies, PTMagic can take everything Profit Trailer does to all new levels.
Versatile and Powerful
PT Magic's ability to alter Profit Trailer settings based on market conditions is extremely versatile. Unlike PT's Auto-Config Switcher, with PT Magic you are not limited to three market conditions, arbitrarily defined by a simple 24-hour trend. You can create as many Global Settings as you can imagine, and use any combination of trends across any combination of time-frames.
You can define a variety of time-frames, such as 15-minutes, 1-hour, 6-hours, 24-hours, 3-days, 30-days, etc. And PT Magic can trigger settings based on changes in any combination of those time-frames. For example, if multiple short-term trends are down, but the longer-term trends are up, you might switch to an "IncomingBear" strategy to make buying new pairs more difficult. If the trends across all your timeframes are negative, you might switch to a "SuperBear" strategy that only DCAs. If multiple timeframes are ranging between -1% and +1%, you might switch to a "Sideways" strategy to by and sell more easily, on smaller movements. Or, if the long-term trends are negative, but the short-term trends are positive, you might switch to a "BullTrap" or "IncomingBull" strategy which buys and sells more conservatively until the trend becomes clear.
There are no limits to the number of time-frames and market conditions you can define and analyze. And for each of these, you can create a customized set of buy, sell, DCA, indicator, and money-management strategies.
Coin-Specific Settings
The real power of PT Magic is its ability to analyze and define strategies for individual coins. Every setting in Profit Trailer that is preceded by "DEFAULT_" is a setting that can be used in a coin-specific setting. Similar to Global Settings which react to overall market changes, with PT Magic you can create as many Single Market Settings as you wish, and have a completely different set of coin-specific settings for every coin, or at least those that are behaving very differently from the rest of the market.
So, you might create settings such as "LongTermDownTrend," "ShortTermUpTrend," "Pumped," or "Tanking," and after analyzing the trends of each individual coin, PT Magic can apply a completely different set of strategies, indicators, and values, to be used when deciding to buy, sell, DCA, or move that coin to pending. So, even when a down-trending market triggers a bearish global setting, a single coin that is doing well could trigger a coin-specific strategy, ensuring your bot buys only that particular coin. Similarly, if the market is in an up-trend, a down-trending coin can be avoided by having more bearish settings applied to that coin only. In fact, some people have found that switching Global Settings based on overall market trends is actually unnecessary, and prefer to focus on only using Single Market Settings to focus on the trends of individual coins.
Offset Percentages
One of the best ways to adjust Profit Trailer settings based on changing market conditions is to use PT Magic's OFFSETPERCENT feature. Rather than writing completely new settings and values for every market condition you specify, you can simply increase or decrease the values of those settings by percentages.
This approach works for every setting with a numerical value that you can adjust with PT Magic. And, the effects between global market settings and coin-specific settings stack, so they work together to create more finely-tuned and responsive settings for every coin. Most importantly, it makes tweaking your bot easier, since you only have to adjust one number, in one place, to quickly adjust the values of all your Global and Single Market strategies.
No Limits
